Ashin Ottama – Thoughts and Thinking during Meditation (Video)

Majority of thinking during meditation is actually an unwanted slipping from the presence of mind into the realm of imaginations, memories, planning, ideas, fantasies, worries. How to deal with this ‘intrusions’ skilfully, how to turn them into a meditation object, into food for wisdom?

The golden instruction for insight meditation: disengage from the contents of the thoughts and become aware of thinking as a mental process taking place in your mind. Use the spaciousness of awareness to become aware of the consciousness in which the thoughts are taking place - moreover: note what the thoughts are doing to your mind, and what are they able to trigger off.
